The latest Australian Charities Report has just been released by the ACNC on Monday 20th May. Key findings include:

• Government grants as a revenue source increased by $7 billion
• Donations and bequests to charities have decreased by $600 million between the 2016 and 2017 reporting periods
• Government revenue (including grants) comprises 46 – 48% of total revenue of charities with an income of $1M or more
• Generally speaking, the larger the size of the charity, the larger the proportion of revenue from government (including grants) e.g. Just 12.8% of total revenue of small charities comes from government (including grants) compared to 29% for medium sized charities and 47% for large sized charities.
